ABOUT ME
Rachel LU (born in 2006) is a cellist and soprano. She is studying cello with Richard Bamping and singing with Prof. Nancy Yuen. Rachel was awarded Distinction in Trinity Music Diploma Associate (ATCL) & Licentiate (LTCL) Cello. She also passed the Trinity Music Diploma Associate (ATCL) Singing when she was 11 years old. Her music talent has been highly recognized over the years. She regularly sings as a soloist with orchestra in venues large and small, including the Concert Hall in the Hong Kong Cultural Centre.
The many awards and prizes from scores of open competitions both locally and internationally that Rachel has won include: the First Prize in the Tokyo International Singing Competition 2018 (Art Song), Third Prize in the 71st Hong Kong School Music Festival Vocal Solo – Age 19 or under, Bronze Prize in the Bologna International Vocal Competition 2018, First Prize in the 2017 & 2018 Taiwan Music Competition (Primary School Vocal Session), Gold Prize in the 19th Osaka International Music Competition (Section III Vocal & Cello), Honorable Mention Winner of Cello Solo in International Music Competition "Vienna" Grand Prize Virtuoso 2017, Second Prize in Cello Solo in 18th Osaka International Music Competition, First Prize in the 9th and 10th Hong Kong Students Open Music Competition - Cello Grade 8 & Cello Diploma Session, Third Prize in 70th Hong Kong School Music Festival –Senior Cello Solo and Third in 68th Hong Kong School Music Festival –Junior Cello Solo.
